Polypropylene

Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer that is mechanically rugged, flexible, and has a high resistance to chemicals, including fats and almost all organic solvents, at room temperature. Its properties are similar to those of polyethylene, but it is slightly harder and more heat resistant.

Polypropylene has the second largest production volume among commodity plastics after polyethylene. It is used in a wide variety of applications including packaging for consumer products, plastic parts for various industries including the automotive industry, textiles and medical products. Although it is recyclable, worldwide only about one percent of it is actually recycled.
